A Statement by Anthony Jasenski, Sr., Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature Regarding Governor Cuomo’s Signing of Legislation (S7973-A/A10539-A)

In Support of the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority

(Schenectady, NY) Statement from Schenectady County Legislature Chairman Anthony Jasenski regarding the signing of legislation expanding the ability of the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority to invest in our communities:

“We are very pleased that Governor Cuomo has signed legislation expanding the ability of the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority to invest in our communities.  This legislation will extend the life of Metroplex, which has been an important tool for our unified economic development team and allows us to continue to invest in projects that create jobs and expands our tax base.  In addition, we will be able to continue to direct additional sales tax revenue authorized in the Metroplex enabling legislation to our towns and villages for property tax relief, which since the Authority was created totals $52 million.  We again want to thank Governor Cuomo for signing this important legislation and express our gratitude to Senator Farley and to Assemblymen Santabarbara and Steck for their outstanding efforts to obtain passage of this legislation in their respective Chambers.”
