Crossroads Center Will Get New Home

March 7, 2010

Schenectady, N.Y., February 24, 2010 –   The Galesi Group today announced that Crossroads Center for Children, Inc. has signed a lease to occupy almost 20,000 square feet of space at the Rotterdam Corporate Park.

David M. Buicko, COO of the Galesi Group said, “We are very pleased that Crossroads has selected the Rotterdam Corporate Park as its new home.  This project continues our momentum at the Rotterdam Corporate Park, which has attracted many new companies and more than $70 million in new investment since 2004.”

Crossroads Center for Children was founded in 1998. The organization is a private, not-for-profit school that provides services to children and families impacted by autism spectrum disorders. Crossroads provides services to more than thirty school districts in eight counties.

Wendy Whitman, M.Ed., President of Board of Trustees said, “All of us associated with Crossroads Center for Children are pleased and excited about moving into our new facilities.  We are grateful to The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd for allowing us to share their space as we recovered from the devastating flood in November 2008 that forced us from our original school. The Board of Trustees would also like to thank the students of Crossroads and their parents, as well as our administrative and teaching staff for their hard work and support in getting us to this point.  Now we look to the future as we continue to provide high quality, behaviorally based programming for our students on the autism spectrum and their families.”

Autism is one of the fastest growing disability groups.  The school provides services to about 80 children, aged 12 months to 12 years with a staff of 50 education professionals.

Crossroads Center for Children will occupy 18,273 square feet in Building 50 at the Rotterdam Corporate Park. The new location is located near the Rotterdam branch of the Schenectady County library and will feature green space and an outdoor playground area.

Rotterdam Town Supervisor Francis Del Gallo said, “We need to invest in our children.  Adding the Crossroads Center is a step in the right direction for the growth of this town”.

With more than 4 million square feet of space Galesi’s Rotterdam Corporate Park is the largest business park in the Capital Region. The Galesi Group plans to develop Building 50 as a center for non-profit organizations, beginning with Crossroads Center for Children as the first tenant.

Crossroads Center for Children provides a classroom setting from early intervention to school aged classrooms. The school is frequently involved in research efforts designed to bring the latest in educational techniques to its student body.

Crossroads will relocate to Rotterdam in the Spring of 2010 after building renovations are completed.  The school is currently operating at a temporary facility at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glenville.  The search for a new facility resulted from a water main break at the school’s original home at 50 Cypress Drive in Glenville, NY.

The Rotterdam Corporate Park was selected after the school considered sites throughout the Capital Region.
