Restaurateur planning Moroccan-style spa

SCHENECTADY — The entrepreneurs behind the Tara Kitchen restaurants are preparing to expand their presentation of Moroccan culture beyond food with the opening next year of a hammam, a Moroccan-style spa.

The project is a leap for Aneesa Waheed and will be a stretch for her contractors, who’ve never built anything like it, but she’s found a potential site on Lafayette Street in downtown Schenectady and hopes to be able to open its doors in the spring.

“This is a concept we’ve been working on for a few years,” she said. “This was the idea of bringing another experience to Schenectady that we don’t have, similar to what we did with the restaurant.”
