Twelve More Buildings in Downtown Schenectady Will See Facade Improvements

Schenectady, N.Y. – Metroplex today announced that twelve buildings in downtown Schenectady will have their facades improved this summer and fall. The downtown façade program is operated by the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation (DSIC) utilizing funding provided by Metroplex.

“We are very pleased that we will see twelve more facades get upgraded this year adding to the momentum we are seeing downtown and across Schenectady County,” said Ray Gillen, Chair of Metroplex and Commissioner of Economic Development and Planning in Schenectady County.

Jim Salengo, Executive Director of DSIC, said, “This latest round of façade projects will add tremendously to downtown’s beautification. I applaud downtown property owners for partnering with us on the continued revitalization of our district.”

The twelve Properties include:

–144 Barrett Street

–159 Clinton Street

–415 State Street

–218, 307, 309, 511, 611, 617 and 619 Union Street

–28 Jay Street

–104-112 Erie Boulevard

Companies interested in learning more about the façade program are encouraged to call DSIC at 518-377-9430. The program offers matching grants on a dollar for dollar basis up to $60,000 to fund major façade improvements projects in downtown Schenectady.
