Schenectady, N.Y., December 23, 2025 – Gary Hughes, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature said, “We thank Governor Hochul and Empire State Development for awarding a
$1 million grant to the State Street Redevelopment Project. This grant will provide a huge boost to our efforts to redevelop the former Mohawk Auto Center site on State Street. The County acquired this site to boost development in the Albany and State Street corridors, and this grant will help us achieve our goal of revitalizing this area. I am pleased to report that demolition at the site is complete, clean-up work will get underway utilizing the State’s Brownfield program and our goal is to have construction started in late 2026.”
