SCHENECTADY, NY (January 28, 2026) – Discover Schenectady announced today, in partnership with the New York Phoenix and the Galesi Group, that the New York Phoenix professional basketball team will play all home games during the 2026 season at the M&T Bank Center at Mohawk Harbor.

The Phoenix enter the 2026 season following a strong inaugural 2025 campaign, finishing the regular season with an 18-3 record and advancing to the playoffs in the postseason. This season’s first home game at M&T Bank Center is scheduled for March 29.Continuity remains a cornerstone of the organization heading into the new season. Head Coach and General Manager Trevis Wyche will return, along with the full Phoenix management and operations team from last year, as the team builds on its first season success.

“We’re thrilled to call the M&T Bank Center the new home of the New York Phoenix, and our partnership with the Galesi Group strengthens the rebirth of pro basketball in Schenectady,” said Rebecca Whaley, NY Phoenix Co-Owner and CEO. “Playing our home games in one of the Capital Region’s premiere sports venues enhances the fan experience and brings more pro sports excitement to the area. We can’t wait for that first home game at the end of March!”

“The new M&T Bank Center is off to a fast start with great crowds for hockey, concerts, and special events,” said David Buicko, CEO of the Galesi Group. “We built this facility to serve our community and provide great entertainment. We welcome the NY Phoenix to our building as they make a run at a title in a new league and a new building, and we invite the entire Capital Region to come out and support the team.”

All Phoenix home games will be played at the M&T Bank Center at Mohawk Harbor, home to Union College men’s and women’s hockey with seating for more than 3,000 basketball fans. The venue features plenty of on-site and nearby parking, and professional-level amenities including modern locker rooms, premium seating, full concessions, and advanced video, sound, and broadcast capabilities, delivering a first-class experience for players and fans.

“We are pleased to welcome back the New York Phoenix for another exciting year of hoop action at the M&T Bank Center which is fast becoming the go to venue for exciting sports and concert events at Mohawk Harbor, Schenectady’s winning riverfront destination.” said Mayor Gary McCarthy.

“Armory Studios has proven to be a fantastic venue, drawing large crowds with exhibits like Titanic, Van Gogh, and The Art of the Brick,” said Gary Hughes, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature. “By maximizing all of our assets, we’re continuing to bring exciting exhibits to Armory Studios while making Mohawk Harbor a must-visit destination for Union College hockey, live entertainment, and more. We’re thrilled to welcome the New York Phoenix back to Schenectady for another exciting season and can’t wait to tip off the action at the M&T Bank Center.”

“The New York Phoenix continue to elevate Schenectady as a destination for sports tourism and high-quality athletic events,” said Todd Garofano, Executive Director of Discover Schenectady. “Bringing professional basketball to the M&T Bank Center at Mohawk Harbor creates an exciting draw for visitors, fans, and the local community throughout the season.”
