SCHENECTADY, N.Y.  — The Board of Directors of the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority has approved a $175,000 grant to Adirondack Beverages for new equipment that will help the company’s major manufacturing facilities in Glenville, NY continue to grow.

“This grant supports Adirondack Beverages’ continued expansion, which will create an additional 60 jobs right here in Schenectady County,” said Anthony Jasenski, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature. “We are proud of the quality products they make and thank Adirondack Beverages for making this major investment in our community.”

Brian Aceto, Vice President of Operations said, “Adirondack Beverages appreciates the ongoing assistance we have received from Metroplex and Empire State Development. This partnership has allowed us to invest in our Glenville operation, bringing both new jobs and new investment to the site. Coupled with our dedicated workforce and support from New York State, Schenectady County and the Town, we continue to expand our operations in Glenville.”

The Glenville facility produces soda, spring water, seltzer, flavored seltzers, flavored waters, and sports drinks for sale under the Adirondack brand as well as contract bottling for many other customers.

Adirondack Beverages occupies over 1 million square feet of manufacturing space at the Glenville Business & Technology Park with 400 jobs. Due to recent investments, Adirondack plans to add 60 new jobs in the next few years. The company this year alone has invested over $4 million for a new power substation and more than $16 million for a new production line for canned beverages.  Metroplex worked closely with the company to get the new power station built and Empire State Development provided $2 million in Excelsior Tax Credits that are tied to job retention and expansion in Glenville. In addition to direct employment, Adirondack Beverages creates jobs at nearby suppliers including logistics firms in Glenville and Rotterdam that account for an additional 75 jobs.

“Adirondack Beverages is another great success story in our community and I am pleased that the town and Metroplex have worked together to ensure new jobs for our residents and additional tax revenue for the town,” said Glenville Town Supervisor Chris Koetzle. “Over the years, Adirondack has also made significant investments in our town through countless donations to our non-profits, sports leagues and community events and we’re happy to continue our partnership with them and Metroplex.”

“We thank Empire State Development for their assistance in this project that will allow Adirondack Beverages to ramp up production in Glenville. This company is certainly one of the best known brands made right here in Schenectady County and shipped to customers across the United States,” said Ray Gillen Metroplex Chair.

Adirondack Beverages is a wholly owned subsidiary of Polar Beverages based in Worcester, Massachusetts.
