Clean Energy Company Auterra Expanding to Schenectady County

Schenectady, N.Y. — Schenectady County officials today announced that Auterra, a clean energy company, will move to 2135 Technology Drive in the City of Schenectady.

Marty Finn, Chairman of the County Legislature’s Committee on Economic Development and Planning.  “We are pleased that this growing green energy company is moving to Schenectady County.”

Auterra President and CEO Eric Burnett said, “We’re excited to be improving our physical space and capabilities with this move.  The company’s oil upgrading technology is moving into the commercialization phase and having the more robust infrastructure will be very beneficial to accelerating our growth.”

Auterra has developed a patented catalytic process that enables energy companies to upgrade lower quality oil using less energy than existing technologies.  The firm has been awarded six patents and has another nine patents under review.

The company is currently located in Malta but has outgrown its current space. Auterra considered a number of locations before selecting the 21,600 square foot building on Technology Drive in Schenectady.

The Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority will provide a $75,000 grant to assist with project costsThe Tech Drive Business Park in Schenectady is home to Fortitech, Astria Solutions, Auto Saver Systems, M&P Labs, Frank Murken Products, Starfire Systems and Pace Analytical.

The Galesi Group and BBL Construction Services own 2135 Technology Drive and will lease the building to Auterra.  To accommodate Auterra’s space needs, a 1,200 square foot addition is planned.

Auterra will bring 17 jobs to Schenectady with plans to grow to 30 employees in the next few years.

Ray Gillen, Metroplex Chair said, “With the exception of a very small warehouse space, Technology Drive is now fully occupied.  Auterra is a great fit with this building and we are pleased that they selected Schenectady County.”
