Florida-based American Medical Depot to Lease 62,500 Square Feet at Rotterdam Corporate Park

Schenectady, N.Y., September 12, 2016 – The Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority and the Galesi Group today announced that American Medical Depot, a Florida-based distribution and supply chain management company that leverages technology to manage multi-disciplinary supply chains, will lease 62,500 square feet of space at the Rotterdam Corporate Park in Schenectady County, New York. This expansion continues to build the company’s brand presence in the medical supply distribution industry and allows American Medical Depot to scale in response to increasing customer demand.

Anthony Jasenski, Chairman of the Schenectady County Legislature said, “Schenectady County welcomes American Medical Depot.  They searched across the entire Northeast for a location to serve our nation’s veterans and selected Schenectady County for this major expansion.  This is another example of Schenectady County’s growing reputation as a great place for businesses to expand and thrive.”

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently announced a major contract award to American Medical Depot that will bolster the VA’s ability to deliver timely health care to our nation’s veterans. The contract for Medical Surgical Prime Vendor-Next Generation Program (MSPV-NG) represents a major step forward in supply chain modernization and has been identified by the VA as “breakthrough priority” of the Department’s MyVA transformation effort.  The new Schenectady County facility will be used to serve Veterans Affairs medical facilities in the New England region.

American Medical Depot selected Schenectady County over competing sites in New York, Pennsylvania and New England states.  The company plans to create approximately 20 jobs at the new Rotterdam facility in the next five years.

Company CEO Sukrit Agrawal said, “We are excited to locate our newest facility at the Rotterdam Corporate Park.  This location in Rotterdam, New York will bring new job opportunities to the County, and increase the company’s geographic footprint.  It will make it easier for us to distribute life-saving medical supplies to our nation’s veterans, as well as other customer facilities up and down the eastern seaboard.”

A large part of the company’s decision to choose Rotterdam Corporate Park as a location for the new expansion was based on the welcoming nature of the community.  CEO Agrawal said, “It’s always reassuring to know you’ll be working with people who care about expanding opportunities in the community. From our initial meeting with Schenectady County officials and principals from the Galesi Group, we were confident that this would be a mutually beneficial relationship that would have a positive impact on the County.”

The company will be located in 62,500 square feet of brand new space just completed by the Galesi Group, owners of the Rotterdam Corporate Park, formerly the Rotterdam Army Depot. The project is a homecoming of sorts as it marks the return of military and VA supply work to the former Depot.  It also reconnects AMD co-founders Sukrit and Akhil Agrawal to Schenectady County.  The two brothers spent part of their early teenage years living in Niskayuna.

The Rotterdam Corporate Park has more than 3.7 million square feet of space and is the largest business park in the Capital Region. Tenants include Railex, FedEx Freight, Golub Corporation, GE, Distribution Unlimited and many others.

David Buicko, CEO of the Galesi Group said, “This is the type of fast growing company that we like to work with.  We welcome American Medical Depot to the Rotterdam Corporate Park and we look forward to growing with this company as they provide a critical service to our nation’s vets and to the military.”

Ray Gillen, Metroplex Chair said, “We worked hard to show this fast growing medical equipment company that the Rotterdam Corporate Park was the best choice for their expansion in the Northeast.  We also thank the Galesi Group for investing in this new 100,000 square foot building. Our goal was to use this new building to attract new companies to Schenectady County and before the building was even finished, we have leased more than half the available space.”

CBRE provided real estate site selection support for the project in multiple Northeastern locations including Dan Davitt from CBRE’s Albany office.
