Mayor Gary McCarthy Announces Schenectady Bike Share Week

SCHENECTADY – Mayor Gary McCarthy today announced that Schenectady will host a     Bike Share Week from July 10 through July 16, 2014.  The Schenectady Bike Share Week is    part of the Capital Region Bike Share Month, sponsored by Capital District Transportation Committee (CDTC) in cooperation with Buffalo Bike Share.   Mayor McCarthy said, “We are pleased to host Bike Share Week. We hope residents enjoy this chance to bike around Schenectady.”

There will be 25 bicycles available each day for use between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the following locations:

1)         The corner of State Street and Jay Street across from Proctors (on Friday, July 11th, this location will be moved to Jay Street in front of City Hall)

2)         On Union Street in front of Union College’s Webster House, and

3)         Union Street in front of the First Reformed Church

Staff members will be located at the Jay Street location to sign users up and give a quick tutorial on how the Program operates.  Once signed up, participants may use the bikes at any location.  There will be no cost to sign up, although a credit card will be needed as security for the bikes.  People are encouraged to use the bikes during these dates and fill out the survey provided.  More information can be found at http://capitalmoves.org/capital-region-bikeshare-month.
