Metroplex Board Approves Four Bids to Boost Infrastructure in Downtown Schenectady

Facade Project on Eastern Avenue Also Approved

Schenectady, N.Y. — The Schenectady County Metroplex Board of Directors met today and approved four infrastructure bids and one façade project.

The four bids that were approved include:

  • $141,608 to Lupini Construction in Utica, NY to do renovations and upgrades to the  Metroplex parking garage on Broadway.
  • $357, 921 to Carver Construction in Princetown, Schenectady County to reconstruct and    pave the Broadway South parking lot.
  • $377,030 to Precision Industrial Maintenance of Schenectady for environmental remediation.  This clean-up work will occur in the southwest corner of the Broadway South parking lot. Metroplex is eligible to receive 90% of its costs reimbursed by NYS DEC under the State’s Environmental Restoration Program.
  • $285,965 to Rifenburg Construction of Troy, NY to construct a median on Washington Avenue near SCCC.

The Metroplex Board also approved a $22,000 façade matching grant for 813-815 Eastern Avenue. The building was recently purchased by Tim Campbell. Mr. Campbell plans to renovate the building. He will operate a machine shop on the first floor and renovate the residential space on the second floor. Extensive façade improvements are also planned.

Metroplex Chair Ray Gillen said, “We continue to invest in infrastructure projects in our fast growing downtown.  The first three projects represent our continuing commitment to invest in our parking system.  The new median near SCCC will help us link the College to lower State Street helping to boost redevelopment in this area.   The façade project helps us move development up Eastern Avenue from downtown.”
