New IDA Report Shows that Schenectady IDA’s Keep Costs Low While Adding Jobs

March 27, 2017, Schenectady, N.Y. — The Schenectady County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) and City IDA received the following rankings in the annual IDA Performance Report issued today by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.  Both IDA’s are administered by Metroplex as part of Schenectady County’s unified economic development team.

Metroplex Chair Ray Gillen said, “The Comptroller’s report shows that we are producing results and keeping administrative costs very low.  The County IDA had the 5th lowest administrative costs per job created in the State while the City IDA had the 8th lowest administrative costs per job created.  As far as new jobs created, the County IDA ranked 11th among upstate counties while the City IDA ranked 4th.”

Among 55 counties that were scored in the report, the Schenectady County IDA ranked:

#5 for lowest administrative costs per job gained at $94.

#15 for net job change statewide with 2,704 new jobs. In Upstate New York, Schenectady County ranked #11 among county IDA’s for net job change/new jobs.

#11 for net exemptions (total cost of incentives per job) at $963 per job created.

Among 52 city and town IDAs statewide, the City of Schenectady IDA ranked

#8 for lowest administrative costs at $38 per job gained.

#10 for net job change with 1,865 new jobs. Among Upstate city and town IDA’s, Schenectady ranked #4 for net job change/new jobs.

#13 for net exemptions (total cost of incentives per job) at $1,237 per job created.
