New York BizLab’s First Tenant, SureDone, Approved in Start-Up NY

Schenectady, NY – January 22, 2015 –Governor Andrew Cuomo today officially announced e-commerce company SureDone is approved to be part of the Start-Up NY program, a program designed to provide tax incentives to promising companies that grow and stay in New York. SureDone will locate its new office at the New York BizLab at 251 State Street in downtown Schenectady.

SureDone’s e-commerce platform assists sellers by linking their websites, inventory control and web optimization to maximize online sales using tools such as eBay and Google.  Under the Start-Up NY program, the company is expected to create seven new jobs in the next 12 months and 26 new jobs per during the next five years.

SureDone is already seeking sales and technical engineers, sales reps, support reps and programmers.

“We have been very selective about the types of companies we’re going after for the New York BizLab and we’re excited about SureDone,” said Antonio Civitella, president and founder of the New York BizLab and CEO of software developer Transfinder. “We are very pleased that Governor Cuomo and his team at Empire State Development have approved this application.”

To be included in the Start-Up NY program, companies must have strong affiliations with a state university or college. SureDone has quickly demonstrated strong ties with Schenectady County Community College, seeking potential interns immediately as well and committing to work with departments in a number of disciplines to help prepare graduates for the workforce.

“Schenectady County Community College is proud to participate in Governor Cuomo’s innovative Start-Up NY program,” said Dr. Martha Asselin, Acting President of Schenectady County Community College. “Our collaboration with SureDone will enable our students and faculty to have a close working relationship with a trailblazing e-commerce solution company for new coursework, internship and job placement opportunities.  Together with our economic development partners in the City of Schenectady, the New York BizLab and Metroplex Development Authority, we are extremely excited to help bring SureDone to downtown Schenectady.”

Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy called SureDone a strategic addition to the city’s lower State Street corridor.

“Schenectady is pleased to welcome SureDone to the New York BizLab on lower State Street,” McCarthy said. “This is a perfect match for a new growing tech company, Governor Cuomo’s Start-Up NY program and Schenectady’s growing and diversified commercial base.”

“Schenectady County has a long history of innovation,” said Anthony Jasenski, Chairman of the Schenectady County Legislature.  “Through this partnership and the support of Governor Cuomo’s Start-Up NY program, we will continue to provide opportunities for future innovators to create new opportunities in research and technology.”

Ray Gillen, Metroplex chair, said, “We welcome SureDone to the growing tech base in downtown Schenectady. Working closely with SCCC and the New York BizLab, we are excited about the potential to bring more jobs and investment to Schenectady County using the Governor’s Start-Up NY program.”

Jason Nadaf, CEO of SureDone, said it was an honor to be approved for inclusion in Star-Up NY.

“We are proud to be part of Governor Cuomo’s Start-Up NY program to help enable and ease our path for growth in the Capital Region,” Nadaf said. “We’re excited about the talent, landscape and community in the area and appreciate the Governor’s support in growing our foundation here.”
