Pub owner eyes Schenectady live music venue across from City Hall

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.  — The Electric City isn’t necessarily known for its electric guitars. Now the owner of a downtown bar is trying to change that.

Jay St. Pub owner Mitchell Ramsey aims to take over a vacant building next door to his business and transform the long-shuttered space into a live music venue.

“Regulations to stay in compliance was just an endless money pit,” Ramsey said.

Now he’s finally positioned to launch the project, a joint effort with his landlord and building owner, Noah Smith.
