Schenectady County Holds Foreclosed Property Auction

Continues Efforts to Streamline Government and Add Property to Tax Rolls

(Schenectady County, NY)  Schenectady County continues its efforts to streamline County Government by holding the 2016 Foreclosed Property Auction on Saturday, October 22, 2016.  The auction will be held at Schenectady County Community College, The Carl B. Taylor Auditorium, at 11:00am (registration begins at 9:30am).

“Schenectady County continues our efforts to sell unneeded property and get them back on the tax rolls to benefit all of our residents,” said Anthony Jasenski, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature.  “This effort has resulted in more than 300 properties being put back on the tax rolls to benefit our taxpayers and create a more efficient government.”

This year’s auction includes 59 properties taken through tax foreclosure or other forfeitures.   The hope is that all will be purchased and placed back on the local tax rolls. Since 2008 Schenectady County has put more than 300 properties back on the tax rolls through the auction process, either by being sold or redeemed by the tax delinquent owner.  Additional properties have been transferred to our local municipalities or dedicated as park land to expand green space throughout the County.

For additional information about the auction or to view the brochure of available properties, please visit www.schenectadycounty.com (look under Departments/Real Property Tax Services) or through Collar City Auctions at www.collarcityauctions.com.
