SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — A Superfund site at 222 South Ferry St. is no longer a significant threat to the public or the environment with clean up at the site completed, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

The site was the home to a crockery warehouse in the 1880s and a trucking repair shop and storage facility from the 1930s to the 1960s.

Contamination was discovered at the site in 2007, with concentrations of the known carcinogen vinyl chloride found in the soil. Additional contaminants were identified in the lot’s groundwater and soil vapor.
