(Schenectady, NY) – Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the award of a package of grants and tax credits worth $6.8 million to support the new Schenectady Community Action Program (SCAP) campus at the corner of State Street and Brandywine Avenue. The funding will help advance the development of 60 new affordable apartments and a new childcare center at a key gateway into the City of Schenectady.
The Schenectady County Legislature provided $250,000 in funding to support the SCAP campus and advance the continued revitalization of this important corridor. This investment builds on the County’s previous $4 million ARPA investment that transformed a long-vacant property across the street into the Capital Region’s largest dental clinic, further strengthening this key gateway into the City of Schenectady.
“We thank Governor Hochul for this exciting announcement that makes the planned $50 million SCAP Campus a reality for Schenectady County,” said Gary Hughes, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature. “The SCAP campus at State and Brandywine will continue the transformation of a key gateway into Schenectady County, bringing 60 new apartments and expanded childcare services that will make a real difference for working families.”
