Thompson & Johnson Equipment Company Opening Schenectady Location

Schenectady, N.Y. — The Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority today announced that Thompson & Johnson Equipment Company plans to purchase 2135 Technology Drive in the City of Schenectady and invest more than $800,000 in upgrades before relocating its regional office and warehouse facility to the 22,000 square foot building. The move brings thirty new jobs to Schenectady County.

Thompson & Johnson was founded in 1954 in Syracuse and has locations now in East Syracuse, Elmira/Horseheads, Binghamton, and Albany. The company is a leading supplier to the fast-growing logistics sector. Thompson & Johnson sells, leases and services forklifts and distributes dock and door equipment.

David Schneckenburger, President and CEO of Thompson & Johnson said, “We are very excited for the move to Schenectady. Technology Drive is a great location for our regional office and warehouse, and we look forward to completing the upgrades to the building that will allow us to continue to grow, take care of our customers, and thereby protect our employees’ careers.”

Mayor Gary McCarthy said, “We are pleased to announce yet another new business coming to Schenectady, and we welcome the new jobs and investment. Our economic development team is on a roll, and we welcome this established, well-respected company to our community.”

Ray Gillen, Metroplex Chair said, “We really appreciate the way Thompson & Johnson values its employees and customers. This project bring occupancy at the Technology Drive Business Park to 100%.”

The business park was developed by the City IDA as part of Schenectady County’s unified economic development team which is administered by Metroplex.
