The City of Schenectady was awarded $10 Million through Round 4 of New York State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) for the Capital Region. Metroplex was approved as the City’s administrator of several of the recommended projects. Learn more here.

Jay Street Improvements: Project Completed Summer 2025

ALCO Trail Extension and ALCO Tunnel: Summer 2025

Metroplex in coordination with the City of Schenectady will be making improvements to the ALCO Heritage Trail and ALCO Tunnel. The project will be completed in summer 2025.

Signage and Wayfinding Project: Spring – Fall 2025

The City of Schenectady in coordination with Metroplex, Discover Schenectady, Downtown Schenectady Improvement District (DSIC), and Proctors are working to advance the Signage and Wayfinding DRI Project. The goal of project is to create a comprehensive and cohesive signage and wayfinding program for the City of Schenectady. New signage and wayfinding are needed to direct visitors to various attractions, encourage visitors to explore more of downtown, support local businesses, and create a more welcoming downtown!
