June 30, 2017

(Schenectady County, NY) Congratulations to the Town of Niskayuna for winning the 2016 Best Tasting Drinking Water in Schenectady County competition, dethroning last year’s winner the City of Schenectady.  Niskayuna previously won the title in 2012 and 2013 and went on to win the State-wide crown in 2012.  The Town of Niskayuna will now go on to the regional competition in Albany and if successful, the State finals held at the New York State Fair in Syracuse.

“Congratulations Town of Niskayuna for once again taking the title Best Tasting Drinking Water,” said Anthony Jasenski, Chairman of the Schenectady County Legislature.  “Thank you to everyone who came down to be part of the competition and help choose the winner.”

“We are very proud and honored that our water was selected as the Best Tasting Drinking Water in Schenectady County,” said Town of Niskayuna Supervisor Joe Landry.  “This honor is a reflection of all the hard work by our employees in the Water Department, especially those at our Water Plant.”

The competition was held today, June 30, 2016 at the Farmers’ Market in downtown Schenectady.  The downtown market is located on the corner of Jay Street and Franklin Street near City Hall. Visitors to the Farmers Market were invited to taste blind samples and vote for their top two favorites.  Two points for a first place vote and one point for a second place vote were awarded.
