Land Bank Offers First Property For Sale

August 30, 2013

Schenectady, N.Y. –  The Capital Region Land Bank is proud to make its first property available for sale.  Persons looking to purchase the property for home ownership may view the house at 1006 Strong Street on Tuesday, September 3rd at 11:00 am.

The property, donated to the Land Bank by Deutsche Bank, is in need of substantial repair.  The Land Bank’s advisory property committee is soliciting proposals to purchase and renovate the property.  Proposals will be reviewed for a variety of factors including purchase price, intended use, renovation period, verification of funds, and a review of the potential purchaser’s ownership history.

Bob Hoffman, Chairman of the Capital Region Land Bank said, “We are pleased to offer this home at 1006 Strong Street for sale.  Proceeds from the sale will be used by the Land Bank to renovate, repair or demolish other residential properties in the City of Schenectady.”

The Capital Region Land Bank was established in June of 2012. It includes the City of Schenectady, Schenectady County and the City of Amsterdam.

The Land Bank is currently working on a grant proposal that will be submitted to Attorney General Schneiderman’s Office in September to obtain funding to support the renovation and or demolition of blighted residential property.  The City of Schenectady is also working to secure HUD funding to deal with blighted properties.
