Schenectady, N.Y. — Schenectady County officials today congratulated John D. Marcella & Sons Appliances, Inc. as the 81^st largest appliance dealer in the United States. The annual ranking is compiled by “This Week in Consumer Electronics,” an industry trade publication.

Marcella’s moved up two places in the national ranking from last year’s survey going from 83^rd to 81^st place.  The annual ranking listed Marcella’s major appliance sales at $14 million, an increase of 7.7% over 2011.

Founded in 1953, Marcella’s built a new store on Broadway in Downtown Schenectady in 2009.

Sears leads the annual survey followed by Lowe’s, Home Depot and Best Buy. John D. Marcella & Sons was the only Capital Region-based firm to make the list.

Judy Dagostino, Chairwoman of the Schenectady County Legislature said, “This is a tribute to John Marcella, his family and his employees.  It is great to see a Schenectady-based company rank among the national leaders.”
